Red Light Enforcement Systems
In accordance with Maryland Transportation Article §21-202.1, the Town of Forest Heights hereby provides public notice of its Automated Red-Light Enforcement Program.
Launched as part of the Town’s ongoing commitment to public safety, this program is designed to reduce red-light running and improve compliance with traffic laws at high-risk intersections. Automated enforcement cameras detect vehicles that fail to stop at red traffic signals. A sworn law enforcement officer or certified civilian employee reviews and verifies all potential violations in compliance with state law.
Violations are civil in nature, carry a $75.00 fine, and do not result in points being assessed to the driver’s license.
Automated red-light enforcement in Forest Heights will begin on or after June 15th, 2025.
The following intersections have been designated for current or future red-light camera enforcement:
Livingston Road at MD 210 (Indian Head Highway)
Audrey Lane at MD 210 Northbound
Audrey Lane at MD 210 Southbound
This notice serves as the official public warning. Enforcement at any or all of these locations may begin without further notice following the expiration of the required statutory warning period.
The Town may impose additional penalties for unpaid citations as permitted under law, including:
Late payment fees, collections fees, flagging fees, etc.
Referral of delinquent accounts to a collection process
Registration flagging by the MVA, preventing vehicle registration renewal
Impoundment, booting, or towing of vehicles with multiple outstanding violations
