Compliments & Complaints
The Town of Forest Heights Police Department is committed to maintaining public trust through transparency, accountability, and professional service.
As a member of the public, you have the right to file a complaint or submit a compliment regarding any interaction with our officers or department personnel.
In accordance with Maryland Public Safety Article §3-102 and related provisions under the Maryland Police Accountability Act, any individual may submit a complaint against a police officer for alleged misconduct. All complaints will be investigated fairly, thoroughly, and in compliance with applicable law and department policy.

Online: Online Citizen Compliments or Complaints (Preferred Method of Intake)
There is no time restriction on filing a complaint; however, timely reporting is encouraged to aid the investigation process. You do not need to be a U.S. citizen or a resident of Forest Heights to file a complaint. Anonymous complaints are also accepted, although providing contact information may help in follow-up or resolution.

What Happens After You File a Complaint?
Your complaint will be acknowledged and formally reviewed.
A full investigation will be conducted by the department’s internal affairs function or supervisory staff.
Disciplinary or corrective actions may be taken where warranted, in accordance with law and the Statewide Disciplinary Matrix
You may receive updates, if requested, depending on the nature of the complaint and privacy limitations under Maryland law.
Police Accountability Board & Administrative Charging Committee
As required by the Maryland Police Accountability Act, complaints involving alleged police misconduct may also be referred to the Prince George’s County Police Accountability Board (PAB) and the Administrative Charging Committee (ACC), which have independent oversight responsibilities for reviewing complaints and disciplinary recommendations.
